Giant Wine Company Ghost of 413 Red 06: On its inaugural release this wine hits the mark. The Ghost of 413 Red is dark, generous and spicy. this Columbia Valley Red is delicious, loaded with dense black cherry, warm spices and mineral notes. Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and Cabernet Franc as well. There's a definite streak of milk chocolate and toasted coffee bean running through the black cherry and black plum flavors. It's quite a big wine, really especially well priced for this hugely appealing quaffer.
Seattle Times Pick of the Week:
"The Ghost of 413" 2005 Columbia Valley Red: Don't be fooled by the plain white, ghostly
label. There's nothing flimsy or shy in this bottle; it's
serious juice, crafted by Chris Gorman and Mark
Ryan McNeilly. The blend is 3/5 cabernet, ? merlot
and the rest cab franc, aged 20 months in French
oak, 1/3 new. Muscular and complex, it's loaded
with cassis, plum and black cherry fruit. The firm
tannins and light herbal notes are set against tart
acids, and the barrel time contributes flavors of
cracker and toast, without being intrusive.
