Review: The 2009 blend leads with the Grenache, making this a medium bodied wine perfect for pairing with a wide range of foods. It spent 21 months in 21% new oak barrels (80% French & 20% American). 2007 Vintage Tasting Notes Syrah (60%) Grenache (22%) Mourvedre (18%) - medium to full bodied - sweet berry plum cherry with a hint of incense oak. Bright aromatics, luscious texture and pure fruit arise from this Rhone-style blend from four vineyards in the Columbia Valley. Syrah and Mourvedre from the Olsen Vineyard add richness to the palate, red cherry flavored Grenache from Ciel du Cheval Vineyard and the winery's estate Sunrise Vineyard brighten the finish and enhance the aromatics. Syrah from the winery's estate adds fleshy dark cherry fruit for a decadent ending. In the days of the Roman Empire the Allobroges were a Celtic people living in the Rhone Valley of France who received acclaim for their dark, rich red wines made from the Allobrogica vine. This blend from four vineyards in the Columbia Valley creates a wine that embodies the essence of Rhone varieties in Washington. - the winery Rhone Style Blend - Embodying the essence of the Rhone, the 2006 Allobroges blends Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre into a sumptuous glass of wine. Easy drinking with gobs of ripe black fruits with just a tinge of saddle leather. Finishing long and smooth. - Earl |
