"Gilbert Cellars' red wines begin with the 2007 Cabernet Franc Indian Wells Vineyard. It displays an alluring nose of nutmeg, cigar box, eucalyptus, pencil lead, cassis, and black currant. Dense and intense on the palate, it has more than ample spicy fruit, enough fine-grained tannin to evolve for another 2-3 years, and a lengthy, pure finish. It can be approached now but will be at its best from 2012 to 2022." - Jay Miller

Deeply colored for a cabernet franc, this wine's intricate aromatics include notes of black plum, nutmeg, cigar box and eucalyptus. In the mouth it reveals layers of plush dark fruit backed by dusty, chewy tannins and a finale that resonates with dried fruit and an earthy minerality. Drink now through 2019.
