Review:

The 2011 Pixie, like Gorman's whole 2011 line-up, exhibits vivid flavors and great balance.

2010 vintage tasting notes:

Wine Spectator Insider 94 Points and HOT WINE

Supple, polished and expressive, offering mint and other fresh herb notes around a focused core of black cherry and dried fig. Intense without being weighty. Drink now through 2017. - H.S.

Syrah from Kiona and Ciel du Cheval Vineyards, generous, smoky black fruit and spice. Bacon, game, lavender. Luxurious, plush, balanced but big enough for cellaring.

Gorman The Pixie Syrah 2010 bottle

2009 Vintage Tasting Notes

2009 Wine Spectator - 94 points - Firm in texture and explosive in flavor, with plenty of vibrant blackberry, black cherry and black pepper flavors to push through the layer of fine-grained tannins. Finishes with beguiling freshness and vitality. Best from 2013 through 2019. 200 cases made. - H.S.

2007 Vintage Tasting Notes

2007 Wine Spectator - 92 points - Ripe and generous, with an earthy undertone to the blackberry, plum and spice flavors, picking up a distinctive floral and balsamic character as the finish lingers. Best from 2011 through 2017. 200 cases made. - H.S.

2007 Wine Advocate - 91 points - The 2007 The Pixie Syrah (100%) was sourced from the Kiona and Ciel du Cheval vineyards, both located in the Red Mountain AVA. It was aged in 60% new French oak. Medium crimson-colored, it delivers aromas of smoke, game, bacon, lavender, blueberry, and plum. Mouth-filling, spicy, and layered, this balanced effort will evolve for 2-3 years but can be enjoyed now because of its fleshy personality."

Gorman Winery owners Chris Gorman

Chris Gorman descended into the wine business after graduating from university in 1991, apparently too affected to climb out, he made the best of it.Cutting his teeth on world class Barolo and Barbaresco, he spent 3 years working for a small Italian Importer and never looked back.

For the next decade, as a main stay in the Seattle wine trade, Chris was lucky to represent some of the finest wines in the world. He traveled extensively in the wine areas of Italy, Spain and Germany.

His is a simple philosophy; to make wine, it is imperative to understand it. Those early years found him producing small batch wines, using stolen fruit from many of Washington's finest vineyards.

In 2002 Gorman Winery went commercial.
