Review:

Aromas of dark berry fruits, exotic spices and cigar ash. Flavors include ripe red and black fruit. Good balance of minerality and tannins.

2009 Vintage Tasting Notes

2009 Wine Advocate - 93 points - Tempranillo seems to be gaining a toehold in eastern Washington and there now is sufficient evidence that it can turn out well when farmed correctly and made by talented people. Gramercy’s offering, the 2009 Tempranillo Inigo Montoya is one of the better ones. Exotic spices, tobacco, truffle, violets, and blackberry aromas inform the nose of a savory, elegant, nicely proportioned, intensely flavored wine. This lengthy effort has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years and will deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2024. Gramercy Cellars was started by Master Sommelier Greg Harrington in 2005. As these wines attest, he is not resting on his laurels. - Jay Miller

The medium bodied wine displays a balance of red and black fruits. Tempranillo brings raspberry, strawberry and bing cherry, while Syrah and Mourvedre give the wine a deep sense of earth and black fruit. (450 cases produced) - the winery

2008 Vintage Tasting Notes

2008 Wine Advocate - 93 points - The new releases begin with the 2008 Tempranillo Inigo Montoya (with 5% Grenache and 5% Mourvedre in the blend). It spent 15 months in 2nd fill American oak. It exhibits a bouquet of violets, Asian spices, mineral, espresso, licorice, and blackberry. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it reveals terrific fruit quality with ripe, savory flavors, a plush texture, excellent depth and concentration, and a lengthy finish. It will continue to evolve for another 2-3 years and provide enjoyment through 2023. - Jay Miller

A medium bodied wine, this tempranillo has flavors of bing cherry, raspberry and strawberry. This wine is made in the traditional Spanish style, aged in oak. It is blended with Syrah and Mourvedre to give it depth and complexity.
