Grochau Cellars Tempranillo 07Review: As with the Grochau Cellars Syrah, John's inspiration for his Tempranillo comes from the wines of Europe, Spain's Rioja, to be exact. Avalon Wine found that the Grochau Tempranillo has the typical rich, earthy flavors of Rioja - ripe red fruit and berries with dusky, smoky notes and vanilla hints. The wine is mouth filling with a balanced, refreshing lilt to the finish. We suggest an hour in the decanter before serving. As for foods to pair with the wine, John says: "MEAT! With the Tempranillo or Tinto I always think of grilled Lamb loin chops that have been marinating in herbs for hours. Medium Rare of course. Some Frittata with potatoes, spicy Calabrian chilis, onions and some creme fraiche."
