Grochau Cellars Tinto 06 $16.50/$14.85
Grochau Cellars Tinto is a blend of 40% Syrah and 60% Tempranillo. It quickly disappears into the cellars of Portland's best restaurants, who recognize its quality. Medium bodied and easy drinking, it has rich flavors that pair with lost of foods. A perfect marraige of the smoky black fruit of Syrah and the rich, brightly flavored red fruit of Tempranillo.
Winemaker John Grochau recommends heavier meat dishes with this wine, including lamb on the grill and Sunday brunch frittata-style eggs with chilies and sour cream.

Grochau Cellars Syrah 06 $20.95/$18.86
Avalon Wine's tasting notes: Grochau's Syrah is a hearty, rich, meaty wine, full of blackberry and black raspberry. John's Syrah is Northern Rhone in style, showing excellent balance not always found in Pacific Northwest Syrah. He included 2% Viognier grapes in the wine, and the Viognier adds a wonderful floral intensity to the scent and a hint of exotic jasmine incense to the wine. This Syrah is a crowd-pleaser right now and will improve with a few years of cellaring.
John suggests food pairings: "With Syrah I think more steaky, perhaps with some roasted mushrooms and a red wine demi glace."
The Grochau Cellars Syrah 06 is made from grapes harvested from vineyards in the Rogue Valley of Oregon. Upper Five Vineyard, Meadowlark Hill Vineyard, and Paradox Vineyard supplied the fruit.

Grochau Cellars Pinot noir Cuvee Des Amis 06 $34.95/$31.45
The Grochau Des Amis Pinot noir 06 has an impressive, lovely nose of cherry, white pepper, and spice. The cherry notes are complex, ranging from tart pie cherry through the softly flavored Rainier to the juicy big black bing cherry. Flavors reiterate the scent, with lots of sweet red cherry and raspberry, and white pepper notes. Overall, a very pleasant Pinot suitable for savoring on its own or pairing with many foods. - Avalon Wine

Wine Spectator's Matt Kramer, writing in the Oregonian, says: "like many of the best 2006 Oregon pinot noirs, this is a rich, lush wine plumped with powerful blackberry and black cherry scents and flavors. But it is not a bruiser. Grochau pinot noirs all seem to retain a certain tenderness in style that serves the cause of Oregon pinot noir especially well.
This is impressive, even dramatic, Oregon pinot noir that allies substantial, pure pinot fruit with real finesse."

Grochau Cellars Tempranillo 06 $25.95/$23.36
As with the Grochau Cellars Syrah, John's inspiration for his Tempranillo comes from the wines of Europe- Spain's Rioja, to be exact. Avalon Wine found the Grochau Tempranillo has the typical rich, earthy flavors of Rioja - ripe red fruit and berries with dusky, smoky notes and vanilla hints. The wine is mouth filling with a balanced, refreshing lilt to the finish. We suggest an hour in decanter before serving.
As for foods to pair with the wine, John says: "MEAT! with the Tempranillo or Tinto I always think of grilled Lamb loin chops that have been marinating in herbs for hours. Medium Rare of course. Some Frittata with potatoes, spicy Calabrian chili's, onions and some creme fraiche."

Grochau Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 07 $17.95/$16.16
