Grochau CellarsPopping the cork on a bottle of John Grochau's wine makes me smile. Whatever's going on at the time gets better. His wines are spot-on - whether it's a crisp white, a lush Syrah, or one of his distinctive Pinot noirs, he knows how to make 'em. I buy his wines because not only does he make a good bottle at a good price, he has something original to say, and what he says keeps getting better. - Jean John Grochau's wines and Portland's hip urban scene - they go together. Grochau makes his wines in a warehouse district industrical space shared with other innovative producers. He makes red wines like Syrah and Tempranillo from up-and-coming vineyards in the Rogue Valley, and Pinot noir, Savignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc from choice sites in the Willamette Valley. |
