Review:
2008 Wine Advocate - 91 points - The 2008 The Alibi is a three vineyard blend from the Red Mountain AVA composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Cedar, tobacco, incense, black currant and blackberry notes lead to a savory, dense, concentrated, full-flavored wine which has the structure and balance to evolve for another 2-3 years. It will provide enjoyment from 2013 to 2023. - Jay Miller
A huge red that balances succulent Washington Cabernet and Merlot flavors with solid structure and the symmetry to age well and cellar for 2-4 years.
Smoke, black cherries, anise, white pepper, leather and espresso waft from the nose and follow through in the flavor. Flavors keep unwinding and intensifying as the wine warms in the glass. The big black cherry fruit is joined by black currant and dried pomegranate. The smoke gains a hint of bacon and the finish smooths into silk.
Jerry ages his wines longer than most Washington winemakers and it shows. Everything is long and well integrated - the Alibi pleased me when I first opened it, and it was still going strong on day two, and even on day three. - Jean
The Alibi is a blend of Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%) that was aged in 90% new French oak for 22 months.
