Police officer Jerry Riener is owner and winemaker at Guardian Cellars. When he's not dealing with a nearly naked woman in a hotel lobby (what he did yesterday at work) or staking out a drug bust, he's driving a forklift, topping off barrels, and making beautiful wines.
Jerry recently left undercover work with a Narcotics Unit for a new job in law enforcement - and he's back to wearing a police uniform. Since he names his wines to reference his work (Gun Metal, Chalk Line, The Wanted, etc.) might his next wine be "Copper Cabernet" or perhaps "Smokey Syrah?
Guardian Cellars is best known for its Gun Metal Red, a hefty blend of Cabernet, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Guardian Cellars wines are made in a similar style to those of Mark Ryan, with whom Guardian Cellars shares space. One big difference in method is Jerry's decision to increase the amount of time his wines spend in barrel. Guardian Cellars red wines are introduced about a year later than most of the wines of their vintage.
