Review:
2011 was our second year working with this relatively young vineyard in the heart of the Eola-Amity Hills. Our 4 favorite barrels from the vintage were bottled separately. Dark cherry, deep raspberry and a vivacity that is so distinct to the Eola-Amity Hills. 100 cases produced. - the winery
2010 Vintage Tasting Notes
The Haden Fig Bjornson Vineyard Pinot is round, bold and dark, all within the context of graceful Pinot noir. Blackberry, black raspberry, violet, vibrant and lush. The finish is like biting into a mouthful of summer blackberries.
We spent a week tasting this and pouring it in the shop - it received praise from customers and winemakers alike. The Bjornson is drinking great right now and it has plenty of stuffing to age for 3-4 years.
First time Erin has made a single vineyard Pinot from this vineyard. 75 case production.
From a small vineyard contiguous with and above the famous Seven Springs Vineyard (Evening Land Vineyards.) The grapes were planted 7-8 years ago.
Erin describes the wine: "This is the biggest of the four new Pinots. I was able to get optimal ripeness, textbook perfect. I'd describe the character of the wine as having plumpness, richness, and a voluptuous quality. In contrast to the purity of the Cancilla, the Bjornson is briary - dark fruits - cassis, raspberry, blackberry. It's bold - it's not a subtle wine. The finish is full, round, with more tannins than the Cancilla."
"The Bjornson is drinking beautifully now and can age for 3-5 years."
