Review:

Bill Holloran might be one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Soft-spoken and a gifted listener, Bill has a talent with both people and wine. His Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is blended with fruit from a vineyard he owns in the Eola-Amity hills, as well as from an older one in the Dundee Hills, planted in 1974. In 2010, with it's sublime levels of ripeness (though tiny yields), each part is deliciously apparent. The Eola-Amity portion is the first on stage with it's bright red fruits and ethereal floral notes. On the palate the same tangy red fruits are backed by an unmistakably Dundee Hills-esque richness and dusty earthiness. These two personalities play against each other delectably, with balance being the real tease here. A fantastic value! - Jean

2009 Vintage Tasting Notes

The Holloran Winery Pinot noir Willamette Valley 2009 is a blend of Pinot noir from two distinguished estate vineyards - 60% Dundee Hills Le Pavillon, planted in 1974, and 40% La Chenaie from Eola Amity Hills, hence it is a true Willamette Valley Pinot noir.

The initial impression is pure fruit - wild raspberry and blackberry. Deep and rich, hints of apple mint and fresh turned earth emerge with time. Smooth, integrated tannins add a note of gravitas to the finish that belies the price.

Drink now, or there's plenty fruit and acidity to hold up for quite awhile. Exceptional value. - Jean

Our Holloran Winery Pinot noir Willamette Valley can handle a steak easily in its youth - as it ages I would pair with pork tenderloin with pancetta or a reduction sauce from black fruits. Lamb would work also. - Bill Holloran

2008 Vintage Tasting Notes

The Holloran Winery pinot noir Willamette Valley is aptly named as it is made from a blend of fruit sourced across the Willamette Valley. The largest percentage comes from the winery's Le Pavillon Vineyard.

The scent of blackberry jam and sweet spice is soft and inviting - an initial hit of blackberry, currant, and spice flavors deepens with the addition of black pepper, smoke, and smooth, moderate tannins. In the finish, there's a hint of perfume and cedar. As the flavors taper off, the tannins become a bit grippy - this wine is well matched to barbecue and burgers. - Jean

Made by Jay Somers (J. Christopher Wines) for Bill Holloran. For many years, Jay made his wines at Holloran's facility in return for making the Holloran and Stafford Hill wines.
