Illahe Pinot noir Grand Reserve 2008

Only 25 cases made.

A deeply spiced nose of cola, licorice and caramel leads into a big palate of black cherry. That's when the fruit really takes over, billowing with more cherry, dark berry and a ribbon of cassis. A commanding finish takes me back to all of the 2008s - white pepper-laced, tannins, bright acidity, and big fruit, all of which portend a long life in the cellar. I recommend holding for another 2-4 years.

Illahe picked their two favorite barrels, took half from each, blended them, and let the one barrel age for two years. Grand. - Marcus
