Review:
Only 80 cases made. Beaming with red and black fruits, this captures both the classic Cabernet cassis notes and sweet red cherries with a pinch a summer raspberry. It enters your senses elegantly, then stretches out to show an almost hidden power, finishing with dulce de leche, dried mint, and subtle oak spice.
Walla Walla...Oregon. No, don't run the other way! Many of Walla Walla's best (and most famous) vineyards are on the Oregon side, including Heather Hill Vineyard, the source of J.Albin's Walla Walla Cab. Heather Hill is owned and farmed by Abeja, which is all you need to know. Abeja's attention to quality and detail guarantees that the fruit from Heather Hill will be impeccable.
The Walla Walla is sourced from Heather Hill vineyard. It is adjacent to Seven Hills and is owned by John Abbott of Abeja. We made 80 cases total. We harvested on November 1 that year, the fruit was in great shape and I didn't need to adjust either the sugar or the acid. It was mostly whole berry fermented and sat on the skins for about a week after it completed primary. It was aged in 50% new Vicard oak and 50% one year old barrels. Total barrel time was 16 months. - the winery
