Review:
This dark garnet wine wafts a nose of cherry resin and a linear minerality of iron. On the palate it’s concentrated cherry and lively raspberry with peach cobbler and pemmican (dried smoked meat with dried berries, in this case, juniper). A seamless high acid structure meets wrapped tannins to deliver elegance.- the winery
Wine Advocate 90 Points: The mere 98 cases of J. K. Carriere 2010 Pinot Noir Antoinette originate in ungrafted 30 year old vines of Wadenswil selection on Temperance Hill. This displays less lift and juiciness than the corresponding Anderson Family bottling, but once again, mineral characteristics are at the forefront of its memorable personality, pencil lead, stone, and salt accenting bitter-edged blackberry and huckleberry in a pointedly persistent and stimulating finish. With ample, reasonably fine underlying tannins, this relatively lean Pinot ought to be worth following for the better part of a decade.
2009 Vintage
The wine is translucent cherry in color, with a nose of candied cherry, spice, smoke, oil-cured olives, soy sauce and dusty strawberries. Medium weight on the palate, it shows flavors of strawberry taffy, PEZ and cherry compote with nice grip. The wine fairly cuts the divide of sweet and sour, and will continue to further complex with time. - Jim Prosser
2006 Vintage Tasting Notes
Deep garnet in color, the wine is an overflowing cart of ripe cherry and fresh raspberry. This Pinot snaps the green vine overtones that tether it and spills complex cherry and savory caramel hell-bent across your palate.
