J. K. Carriere Gemini Vineyard Pinot noir 07

The wine is bright red garnet in color, with a nose that suggests pungent berry, gunpowder, dusty oak spice and a hint of menthol. Fresh raspberry, strawberry and stone fruit (peach/cherry pit) with a touch of vanilla come through on the palate. The wine has a very fine and stable acid-driven structure that offers minerality, suggests ageability, and demands food. - the winery

JK Carriere Gemini Vineyard Pinot noir 06 has exquisite aromas of licorice and roses with a nice combination of weight and finesse and the palate. A clear standout of the rare 2006 Oregon cuvees.
64 cases made. Highly regarded. The winemaker says: " This Pinot noir delivers dark fruit, iron and cherry on the nose. The palate is fresh, built on a frame of ripe red cherry, linear acid and mouth-filling tannin. Well balanced, it finishes on a long and dark tail-out of graham".
The Laurelwood soil of Gemini Vineyards is a rich wind-blown loess, which contributes vigor to the plants and good acid to the wines made from these grafted 15-year-old, Scott Henry–trained, Pommard-clone Pinot noir.
