Ken Wright Cellars Abbott Claim Pinot noir 09
The 2009 Pinot Noir Abbott Claim Vineyard is a first-class effort for the vintage. Exotic spices, incense, rose petal, and red fruits set the stage for an elegant, savory wine whose fruit sings from beginning to end. Give this lengthy effort another 1-2 years to fully blossom and drink it through 2021.
Ken Wright Cellars’ 2009 Pinot Noirs range from excellent to outstanding in quality but generally lack the structure, density, and richness of the great 2008 vintage. These are pretty, elegant wines to drink while the 2008s continue to fill out in the cellar. - Jay Miller

2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
Wine Spectator 94 points
Wine Spectator - "94 points. Light in weight and texture, with complex, mineral-accented blackberry, red cherry, whole grain and spice flavors that flow easily into the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2018." - H.S.
Wine Advocate 91 points!
Wine Advocate: The 2008 Pinot Noir Abbott Claim Vineyard comes from a site owned by Ken Wright and planted in 2001. It displays ample spicy fruit but not quite as much depth as some of its peers. Ripe, balanced, and correct in every way, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and provide pleasure through 2020, perhaps longer. - Jay Miller
2005 Vintage Tasting Notes
"a fragrant perfume of pain grille, scorched earth, smoke, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. The layers of sweet black fruits are matched by crisp acidity and well-concealed tannin. The finish is long and pure." - referring to the 2005 vintage of this wine, from Robert Parker's website, 10/07.
Abbott's Claim Vineyard was purchased by Ken Wright in 2000 and was developed by him. Pinot noir made from the vineyard is one of his newer offerings.
The 2005 Abbott's Claim received 92 points from Robert Parker.
