Ken Wright Cellars McCrone Pinot noir 08

2008 Wine Spectator - 93 points - Silky, supple and distinctive for the deep mineral flavors that weave through dark berry, cherry and currant fruit, sailing easily into a cloud of fine tannins on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2018. - H.S.

2008 Wine Advocate - 93 points - The 2008 Pinot Noir McCrone Vineyard comes from a densely spaced site planted in 1992. It offers up fragrant black fruit aromas verging into blueberry and plum. Mouth-coating on the palate with plenty of structure and intense flavors, it has outstanding volume, focus, and length. Give it 3-4 years of cellaring and drink it through 2023. - Jay Miller

2005 Vintage Tasting Notes

Pinots from this vineyard are typically broad, fleshy wines, with red raspberry and other red fruits dominating. There's usually an appealing hint of nutmeg and anise on the finish -- a pleasant herbal note, a bit like the garrigue of Southern France, can often be discerned. It typically takes a year or two to fully open and present its flavors.

2005 Wine Advocate - 92 points - ...falls on the dark fruit side of the spectrum both aromatically and on the palate. It has a plush presence in the mouth, superb balance, and a long, firm finish.
