Le Cadeau |
|
Le Cadeau is a small, 10 acre vineyard on the southern slopes of Parrett Mountain in the North Willamette Valley. Owners Tom and Deb Mortimer took a blackberry bramble and created a premium Pinot noir vineyard, drilling into rocky soil and planting a range of Pinot noir clones for maximum quality and complexity. Le Cadeau contracts with Francis-Tannahill, Chehalem, and Bergstrom Wineries. The owners of those wineries made three Pinot noirs for Le Cadeau in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. Le Cadeau also operates Aubichon Cellars, their second label. About 350 cases are made by this off-shoot of Le Cadeau. Aubichon is a partnership that grew from Le Cadeau Winery. Winemaker Jim Sanders, who made our favorite 2007 Le Cadeau Pinot - Equinoxe - partners with the Mortimers (Le Cadeau). Sanders learned his winemaking from Mike Etzel at Beaux Freres. Aubichon Cellars is a business partnership between Tom Mortimer and Jim Sanders, Aubichon’s winemaker. Aubichon fruit is sourced from exceptional hillside vineyards farmed by Buddy Beck, owner of Advanced Vineyard Systems and former vineyard manager for Domaine Drouhin – Oregon. The Aubichon formula is straight-forward and proven: Exceptional fruit sources; meticulous farming and viticulture; small-lot, hand-crafted wine production— with every detail managed “hands-on” by experienced people that love making great wine. - the winery The Wines of Le Cadeau
