Review:
Aromas of spicy plum, black cherries, fennel and rose followed by flavors of red fruits lead to a long, mineral finish with silky tannins.
2009 Vintage Tasting Notes
2009 Wine Advocate - 91 points - The 2009 Pinot Noir Stermer Vineyard from a Dundee Hills site displays exotic spices, incense, dried herbs, cherry, and raspberry. In the glass it opens to reveal outstanding depth for the vintage, some succulence, a velvety texture, and plenty of stuffing. Give it 1-2 years and drink it from 2012 to 2019, perhaps longer. - Jay Miller
2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
2008 Wine Advocate - 92 points - The 2008 Pinot Noir Stermer Vineyard is the darkest in color of the single vineyard wines. It gives up expressive aromas of wood smoke, Asian spices, incense, black cherry, and plum. Dense and velvety on the palate, it has layers of savory black fruits, plenty of structure, good volume, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. Give it 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy this pleasure-bent Pinot from 2013 to 2023. - Jay Miller
A big, rich Pinot gushing with ripe berries and cherry candy. There's a thread of plum woven in and fresh blackberry - right off the vine - that hangs through the finish.
The Stermer Vineyard is located at the site of the Lemelson winery.
2006 Vintage Tasting Notes
Lemelson's single vineyard Stermer Vineyard 06 combines rich blue fruit (blueberry, plum, blackberry) with bright sweet cherry in both the scent and flavors. A complex wine, it hints at wild herbs, savory spice, and forest floor.
