96 Points Wine Enthusiast
Outstanding. Scents of violets and jasmine explode from the glass, immediately joined by truffles and a wild sauvage of smoke and game. Fresh and vibrant, sweet black cherries, cassis and licorice are accented by grilled herbs. Better on the second day, holding all of its complexity and opening to show even more vibrance. Cellar this or take your time enjoying it now.
Winemaker Jon Martinez shows a command of wine making and an in-depth understanding of Rhone wines. With the 2010 Graviere, he takes Washington State fruit and crafts a complex, precise red that pays tribute to the Rhone but is uniquely his design. The previous vintage received 95 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. I'll be surprised if the 2010 doesn't match or exceed that rating. - Jean

Wine Enthusiast 96 Points: 2010 vintage "Clover, white pepper, and a whiff of animal make this already compelling, but on the second day it was significantly better. The aromas move through a gorgeous spectrum of flower, spice, fruit and animal. This has tremendous length and aging potential." - Paul Gregutt
2009 Vintage
This is a classic Rhone blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. It's a big, meaty, concentrated melange of licorice, pepper, huge plum and black cherry fruit, cassis, nutmeg, and raspberry compote scents and flavors. Earthy dried field herbs flavor the smooth, slightly grippy tannins in a long, savory finish. - Jean
2009 Wine Advocate - 95 points: "The 2009 Graviere G.S.M. is a blend of 50% Syrah, 25% Grenache, and 25% Mourvedre sourced from the Upland Vineyard and aged in seasoned French oak for 10 months. Underbrush, brier, pepper (white and black), black cherry, and blueberry notes are followed by a layered, loaded, succulent wine that craftily combines elegance and power. It has the structure to evolve for 2-3 years and will deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2024." - Jay Miller
The Snipe Mountain AVA is the source for the Graviere's fruit. Wineries like Owen Roe are popularizing the area, making highly rated big reds from the AVA's fruit - Upland Vineyard was used by Maison Bleue.
