I can't think about this wine without singing Pearl Jam's "Dissident." Totally gutsy, this captures the gregarious style of Mark Ryan with a black cherry wallop. The savory/spicy contrast helps make this a great value in Washington red wine. - Marcus
Mark Ryan's 2010 "The Dissident" has aromas of bing cherries, savory roasted game, cedar and black pepper, and luscious black cherry and spice join them in the flavor. The balanced acidity and polished tannins lead to an elegant finish. The composition is 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, 22% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec, and 5% Petit Verdot.

Black cherry, spice and sweet fresh herbs from the Cabernet Sauvignon. The Merlot and Syrah contribute elements of game meat, licorice, blueberry and leather. Small quantities of Malbec and Petit Verdot and the judicious use of French oak adds a hint of chocolate, vanilla bean and clove.
