Medici Pinot noir Block I,II 2003

Price: $30.00

Dark garnet color, restrained nose with hints of blueberry, blackberry, spice. Flavors initially of sweet black cherry and blackberry, in line with winemaker Peter Rosback's (Sineann) over-the-top style. Red cherry, loganberry, and cassis fruit flavors continue, along with cinnamon and anise. The finish is quite long and reiterates the sweet and viscous qualities of the wine. Hints of herbs and a tiny hint of lavender, which might come from the adjacent lavender fields. A tad hot, with hints of alcohol in the finish, but quite a decent offering from a difficult vintage, and a rather big wine for the price. Have with Old Amsterdam aged Gouda, a charred (but rare) steak from the grill, or venison. It's a big Pinot and will complement quite strong flavors.

Detailed Info, Previous Vintage Notes, Reviews:

Although Sineann has a nationwide "cult" status, few people know that Sineann is based at Medici Vineyard, and that Peter Rosback, Sineann owner and winemaker, makes these delicious and quite value priced wines, in small quantity, mostly for sale at the winery only.
