Merry Cellars' Stillwater Creek Merlot is intensely colored, with a bold, toasty black fruited nose that is more Cab than Merlot. Heaps of ripe black cherry are wrapped with black currant and cherry. Robust but round tannins linger with sweet tobacco on the finish. Flat out fantastic Washington state Merlot from a winery to watch. - Avalon
The winery says: "On the nose, this Merlot opens with ripe berries, red fruit, hints of cassis and leather, and a slight floral character coming from co-fermentation with Viognier that was field blended at harvest. Bright fruit and layers of meaty oak greet the palate."
