Mountain Dome Brut Sparkling Wine NV
Mountain Dome has a cult following among wine writers -- those in the know seek the wines out for their lovely flavors and very reasonable prices. This is their basic everyday offering, and it gives so much more than other sparklers at its price. It is a clear light-gold wine with an active and persistent bubble stream. There's juicy white fruit and crisp, fresh and lingering acidity; it's not bone-dry, there's just a hint of fresh fruit sweetness. Not that anybody would buy wine for the label, this one's cartoonishly colorful, with hippie type gnomes on the label that are actually styled after the winery owners and their kids.
