Natalie's Estate Athena Zinfandel 07
Natalie's Estate Athena Zinfandel 07 - Spicy, intense cherry fruit flavors and a streak of sugared campfire smoke - brown sugar and caramel - characterize this full-bodied Zinfandel. Big black cherry is balanced by the qualities unique to Oregon at its best - structure, in the form of toast, slate, white pepper, and silky tannins; and great acidity, lifting rich fruit flavors to an exciting finish.
Lonnie Wright, famous for his singular knowledge of the tiny vineyards along the creeks of the Dalles, provided the grapes for this wine. He sold small lots from several sites to Boyd Teegarten, who crafted a superior example of the poential of Oregon old vine Zinfandel.
Boyd Teegarden describes his experience with the ZInfandel grape. "Making Zinfandel is more like making Pinot noir than other big reds. The grape is thin skinned and finicky to ferment. It is hard to transport and can't sit around - the grapes split you aren't careful."
"Wild Black Raspberry flavors exploding on the palate with hints of white pepper on a long finish." - the winery
