Mostly Merlot, named for winemaker Bill Owen's wife Michiko, the 2004 "M" is 70% Merlot, 30% Cab Sauv and 4% Cab Franc, all from Washington's Klipsun Vineyard.
The nose has intense dried roses and floral scents, with blackberry, black cherry, and sweet spice present as well. Flavors are lush and dense, with deep, deep dark smoky toast notes under huge black raspberry and cherry flavors. As the wine opens in your mouth, flavors continue with hints of dried rose petal, lavender, soft pie spice, Asian 5 Spice Blend, and a long, long finish. The finish is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon tannins -- Klipsun's Cab has a tendency to provide a nice body and tannic structure to wines into which it is blended, and that's the case here.

Winemaker Bill Owen has been in the restaurant, wholesale and retail wine business for over 25 years. He has traveled and studied extensively in the wine regions of France, Italy and Germany and developed his interest in winemaking while working with two of Washington's top winemakers.
Partner Rob Sullivan is a retired Seattle-area banker with an entrepreneurial spirit and a wine-loving heart. Owen and Sullivan joined forces in 1997 and OWEN-SULLIVAN was born.
