O'Shea Scarborough Stand Alone Cabernet Sauv 08

Previous Vintage Tasting Notes

The key word here: more. Amazingly mouth-coating with a plush entry of layered black fruits, loam, lead, bakers chocolate, and spice box. This concentrated Cab has the goods to lay down for years, demonstrated by the structured tannins on the long finish. 66 cases were made, from Wallula Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. - Marcus & Adrienne

It’s back, our signature “Stand Alone” Cabernet Sauvignon. Each year we take the best of the best of the best vineyard and barrel combination. This year it’s 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the famed “Wallula Vineyard.” We feel this vineyard might be the best in the state. It represents the very best vineyard and the very best barrels in the winery. It is aged for 26 months in roughly 60% new French oak. This wine will stand the test of time and then some. It is a young, outstanding cabernet, which will not overpower you, but will entice you. It’s loaded with blueberries, hints of vanilla, and black currants. It might be the best wine ever produced by the two winemakers. 63 cases produced. Much has already been sold, so don’t miss out! - the winery

2006 Vintage Tasting Notes

O'Shea Scarborough "Stand Alone" Cabernet Sauvignon 06 is the very limited reserve Cabernet of Darryn O'Shea and Travis Scarborough.

As we recently stated our love for on Ken Lewis, the 80+ year old farmer who knows how to farm great wine—his Cabernet Sauvignon is some of the best, but we get so little of this wine it makes us almost sad…but then we count our blessings by tasting this wine. It’s 100% Lewis Vineyard and it’s by far the best wine we’ve ever made.

Now we wish we could say this was our doing, but in reality, we had incredible grapes and merely tried desperately not to screw it up. A nice, slow fermentation gave this some rich and dark color, while the 50% new french oak it aged in, developed some incredible structure.

Sadly, this will be our only Lewis Cabernet for a few years, as there were some supply issues with this vineyard and we were unable to secure fruit until this upcoming year. Enjoy you will. We apologize in advance for not making enough. 55 cases produced - The Winery
