O'Shea Scarborough The Immortal Syrah 08
Tiny production and huge concentration in a gamy, peppery, meaty Syrah from a couple of super talented guys in a winery one step up from a garage. If you like the hand crafted, obsessed over and tirelessly nurtured wines made in the single digit number of barrels by fanatics, this is one for you. - Jean
Aged entirely in neutral oak, this Syrah is the reason the winery started making wine! Without being over-extracted, this wine has the concentrated flavors you might find in the Northern Rhone—meat, game, peppery raspberry, and earth! Also 35% Whole Cluster Fermentation.
Only 97 cases produced of this gem, which will only get better and better as it sits in the cellar. For the love of Syrah—true to its character! - the winery
Previous Vintage Tasting Notes
O'Shea Scarborough "The Immortal" Syrah 06 is made from fruit from the winemaker's favorite vineyard, Lewis Vineyard.
Our 2nd release of what we think is the best vineyard in the state for Syrah. I’m sure people would argue otherwise (people not using the Lewis vineyard), but old man Lewis, as we say, knows what he’s doing. He’s now 80+ years old and he’s still farming the grapes himself.
The grapes are old, wild and loaded with flavor…just like him. We also like his farming practices so well that we feel fermenting with some stems helps the wine even more, as they are ripe and add some complexity which adds nicely to the wine. If you were able to get a bottle of the 22 cases we produced last year and were upset you couldn’t get more, this year we made a bit more, so help yourself while it lasts. 71 cases produced. - The Winery
