Soter Vineyards Mineral Springs Vineyard Pinot noir 08 $47.95
$43.16 any 12 bottles
Exotic aromas of sandalwood, sarsaparilla, white pepper and crushed wild berries entice you. The flavors of the 08 Mineral Springs are pretty wound up - it has "cellar" written all over it. In a vintage of ageworthy wines, the Mineral Springs stands out as especially well-built for long term aging. - Marcus
Westrey Reserve Pinot noir 08 $31.95
$28.75 any 12 bottles
Westrey absolutely crushed it with their 2008 wines - the Reserve is the final 08 Pinot noir release from Westrey. Spicy dried rose petal, morel, a touch of sweet blueberry compote, fresh black berry, a pinch of dried herbs and licorice, all in balance. The finish builds and shows great backbone - a perfect complement to the sweet fruit that glides underneath. - Marcus
Marcus said it best (above) but I just have to reiterate - this is a great wine and a great price. I tried to take the sample bottle home when he wasn't looking, but put it back - I know he wants to taste it again after 24 hours to see how it holds together. But wow. As my nephew would say - this wine is SICK! - Jean
Eyrie Vineyards Estate Pinot noir 08 $29.95
$26.95 any 12 bottles
Eyrie makes sexy Pinot. There, I said it. This 2008 is alluring, with a depth and darkness that is a little out of the ordinary for Eyrie, and delicious. Black cherry and meaty blackberry fill up your senses, with star anise and truffley-earth sprinklings creating the right amount of tension. This finishes huge yet snappy, with healthy dose of fruit tannin carrying the flavors to the afterglow. - Marcus
Raptor Ridge Shea Vineyard Pinot noir 08 $41.95
$37.76 any 12 bottles
Ripe and dark fruit driven, Raptor's Shea Vineyard Pinot will please any Shea fan. Dark cherries, black currants and blackberries mesh with vanilla, tobacco, and violets to create a robust Pinot. - Marcus
J. Albin Laurel Ridge Vineyard Pinot noir 08 $28.95
$26.05 any 12 bottles
On the redder side of the 2008's, John Albin's Laurel Vineyard Pinot offers elegant, slightly dusty cherries and raspberries, with a fantastic sweetness/brightness equilibrium. It has a softer, more supple texture than many of its peers. Tasting next to a pair of Burgundies (from Mercurey), this made perfect sense. - Marcus
Winderlea Vineyard & Winery Dundee Hills Pinot noir 08 $35.95
35.95 any 12 bottles
This is everything I like about Dundee Hills Pinot: silky, elegant, super pretty red fruits, with a focus on crushed raspberry and cherry. The supple fruit stays lively through the finish with hints of mineral. Winderlea's 2008 Dundee Hills comes from two of the appellation's best vineyards, Winderlea (formerly Goldschmidt) and Ana. - Marcus
