Oregon Sparkling Wine
3 Bottle Sampler

Winery: Avalon Wine

One each of these hand crafted sparkling wines from Oregon's most talented winemakers. Tony Soter, whose sparkling wines have worldwide recognition and high ratings, John Albin, who for many years made the wines of King Estate, and Ray Walsh, of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc fame and formerly white wine maker for King Estate. They make small amounts of these sparkling wines - usually all are sold locally.

Soter Vineyards Brut Rose 05 $49.95
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93 Points:
"The 2005 Beacon Hill Brut Rose is composed of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. A deep salmon pink in color, it offers up an alluring bouquet of biscuit, rose petal, minerals, strawberry, and raspberry. Medium to full-bodied, rich, and flavorful on the palate, this vibrant effort is impeccably balanced and lengthy. It would be a fascinating experiment to place it in a blind tasting with Louis Roederer Cristal Rose and Dom Perignon Rose. Tony Soter continues to craft one of America's finest sparkling wines."

Capitello Wines Sparkling Brut NV $27.95
Wine Spectator 91 points:
"Soft and creamy, this is fragrant with toasty pear and lime notes and light on its feet, finishing with a deft balance of fruit and other flavors. Drink now. 460 cases made." - HS

Ray made a few cases of sparkling wine for the holidays- mostly for family and friends. It's strictly handcrafted - lovingly riddled and labeled, bottle by bottle.

J. Albin Blanc De Noir Sparkling Wine 05 $31.95
J. Albin Blanc De Noir Sparkling Wine 07 is a family affair.
John and Lynn Albin use Methode Champenoise, the traditional way to make Champagne, they use Pinot Noir grapes, they use a fancy bottle with a fancy label, the wine is fantastic and could rival sparkling wines from anywhere in the world. Their kids label "on demand" the 100 or so cases they make each year in a sporadic delivery system. I guess what I am saying is that if you see some you should buy it as supply is kinda up to the teenagers' willingness to label this Oregon Gem. "Oh, I will take a case of the J. Albin Blanc De Noir Sparkling" -- "Sorry, we are waiting on the next batch to get labeled, the boys had a party to go to this weekend."
