Belle Pente, Big Table: Wineries – and Farms as well

There’s a great article in today’s Oregonian about wineries that are also farms. Big Table Farm, Clare Carver and Brian Marcy’s young effort is featured –  we offer their delectable Big Table Farm Syrah 06, made from the same block of California’s White Hawk Vineyard as Antica Terra winemaker Maggie Harrison’s Lillian Syrah (available by special order from Avalon) and Sine Qua Non.

At Brian and Jill O’Donnell’s farm at Belle Pente Wine Cellars, they grow or raise just about everything they need.  The attention grabbing animals at Belle Pente are their magnificent Highland cattle, a breed originally from the Scottish highlands.

Last spring, their Highlands calf was about the cutest thing you could ever imagine.

We’ve carried Belle Pente’s wines for a decade – Brian’s style of winemaking is elegant and balanced – with an original twist. The new releases from Belle Pente are getting a lot of attention. Just last week, the SF Examiner reviewed the Willamette Valley Pinot noir 07 – we are in love with the Dundee Hills Pinot noir 07, as well.
