Can you guess what the first commercially produced sparkling wine in Oregon was? It’s not who you think.
It was made by Fred Arterberry for his family’s Red Hills Vineyard, and the Maresh family (he married Martha Maresh) still have a bottle of it to show off. It’s made from the original Chardonnay vines planted in 1970 by the Maresh family at Maresh Vineyards.
