Saturday was rocking.  Sun, friends, walking with the pup, and new wines from Evesham Wood, Cameron, Brick House, Westrey, plus favorites from Ayres.  We cruised to Eugene for a focused tasting, easily one of the best I’ve  attended.  After sampling honest wines and too much oxtail and morel terrine, we headed to The Rabbit Bistro with a special bottle from the cellar: Thomas Pinot noir 03, my wine of the 2003 vintage.  After a bottle of Savenierres and the best foie gras dish we’d ever had (that’s ever), we cracked the 03 Thomas.

Tons of red fruit, some on the candied side but still fresh, super earthy.  I won’t be touching another bottle for at least a year.  It was still youthful and paired with four distinct entres: leg of lamb, steak and short rib, black cod, and rabbit.  A top dining and wining experience of the last year. – Marcus
