Owen Roe
Chapel Block Syrah 08
Wine Spectator 97 points

"Warm, inviting and impressive for the purity of its plum, blackberry and currant fruit, sailing easily over a bed of fine tannins, finishing silky and seamless, with hints of espresso and violet. This has extraordinary balance and finesse without sacrificing an ounce of power. Drink now through 2016. From Washington. - H.S.

Owen Roe Yakima Valley Red 08
New release.

Signature Yakima Red. Just what do I mean? I know the Yakima Red profile very well, and it goes like this: luscious black cherry meets brighter red berry and deep cassis, delivered in a velvety envelope. Caramel and floral notes mix with toasty spice on the finish, adding complexity. Totally drinkable now, with a nice burst of acidity to balance the sweet fruit.

Our long-time Yakima Red followers (myself included) don't wait for the scores - they scoop up cases of what we know to be one of the tastiest red blends in the country. Nearly equal parts Cab, Merlot, and Cab Franc.

In talking with David O'Reilly, he reminded me that the Yakima Red is Owen Roe's flagship wine. All aboard that ship - the Yak is back! - Marcus

The bright berry Merlot and fragrant notes of Cabernet-Franc are wonderfully framed by the structure and acidity of the Cabernet Sauvignon, creating a beautiful mouth filling and deeply aromatic wine. The 2008 Yakima Valley Red is a truly gorgeous wine, supple with balanced soft tanins. Polished and generous, with a beautifully focused cherry and plum fruit at the core, this is a superlative vintage of this wine.

Owen Roe Pinot noir Merriman Vineyard 08
Wine Spectator 93 points - The biggest of Owen Roe's three new single vineyard 2008 Pinot noirs. An intense nose of toast introduces a velvet textured wine of blackberry and cherry fruit flavors. Accents of cocoa, toast, and smoke provide a long finish. A wine for cellaring 4-6 years.

Owen Roe Cabernet Sauvignon
Dubrul Vineyard 07

Owen Roe's flagship wine. It exhibits an expressive, rich nose of clove, licorice, cedar incense, vanilla, and sweet black fruit. Mouth-coating, velvety, and plush, huge, sweet blackberry, black cherry, and plum flavors are elevated by layers of sweet tobacco, dried fruit, pencil lead, and cassis liqueur. Ripe, integrated tannins are structured for 5+ years of cellaring.

Owen Roe Cabernet Franc Rosa Mystica 08
New release.
It is all about elegance and sophistication. The aromas are complex--bright red berry, perfume, and cedar. Initially, the wine is supple and delicate, hiding a richness and depth that fleshes out with a minute or two of air. It's surprisingly drinkable now for a young wine, and will win over even the most ardent Cab Franc "non-believer." Previous vintage Wine Spectator 92 points.
