Review:

2012 vintage tasting notes: Wine Spectator 94 points: Combines deft balance with explosive flavor, offering layers of pear, white peach, floral and crème fraîche that sail smoothly over refined acidity into a long and expressive finish. Drink now through 2017.

Previous vintage tasting notes: Extremely limited, this creamy, mouthwatering Chardonnay starts off with the scent of tropical fruit and lemons, adding the toasty, nutty hints of hazelnuts, lemon curd, white flowers, and a lilt of fresh lime in the finish.

Only 24 bottles available from a tiny 100 case production.

David O'Reilly has a knack for finding Washington State grapes that he turns into top wines. Back in the 1990's he discovered DuBrul Vineyard and helped the owners nurse it back first into health and then in to the position of one of Washington's top vineyards.

From the miniscule dozen or so rows of Chardonnay vines in Dubrul Vineyard, David makes a hundred or fewer cases of old vine Chardonnay. Aged in oak, powerful flavors of pear, succulent stone fruit, and crisp citrus mingle in the mouth. There's a creaminess that smooths and rounds out a crisp, mineral finish.

2009 Vintage

The wine is a ripe, yet lithe dance of Seckel pear, quince and exotic tropical notes framed by bright stone minerality. Sur lie barrel aging in French oak finishes this lovely Chardonnay with a creamy mouth feel of fresh baguette and warmed honey tones. Drink now through 2020. 95 Cases Produced.

This is the second year we've released a Chardonnay we felt was deserving of a photograph label, and what a gorgeous wine this is! Most of the fruit was picked from just 10 rows at the top of DuBrul Vineyard in Outlook Washington. DuBrul Vineyard is perched on an alluvial hillside located at 1300 ft. in the western end of Yakima Valley. With soils of basalt, wind swept loess and deposits of calcium carbonate, this vineyard yields fruit with gorgeous Chablis-like minerality. - the winery

2009 Wine Spectator - 93 points - This tightly focused white is juicy with flavors of pear, grapefruit, flowers and white pepper, dancing lightly through the finish, which is long and vivid. Drink now through 2017. 100 cases made. - H.S.

2008 Vintage Tasting Notes

David takes this very limited wine (50 cases made) to wine dinners, and he says it creates a "wow moment" every time. He compares it in style to a good Meursault, combining gorgeous aromatics and intense tropical fruit flavors with a racy acidity and clean finish.

This Chardonnay hails from only 10 rows at the top of DuBrul Vineyard, on an alluvial hillside located at a 300 ft. elevation in the western end of Yakima Valley. These vines yielded only 50 cases of one of the most remarkable chardonnays we've ever tasted. This is the first Owen Roe white wines ever to be labeled with a photograph image, a true testament to it's outstanding quality. The wine is ripe with gorgeous tropical aromas, a creamy mouth feel and lively acidity, with a long silky finish. This chardonnay is delightful now and will really please those who can lay it down for several years as it will develop upwards of ten years in the cellar.
