Owen Roe Pinot noir Merriman Vineyard 08 - the biggest of Owen Roe's three new single vineyard 2008 Pinot noirs. An intense nose of toast introduces a velvet textured wine of blackberry and cherry fruit flavors. Accents of cocoa, toast, and smoke provide a long finish. A wine for cellaring 4-6 years.
The 30 acre Merriman Vineyard is owned and meticulously farmed by Mike Merriman. This east-facing hillside is comprised of ancient ocean bottom soils with excellent drainage that produced Pinot Noir in 2008 with distinctive dark coffee notes, rich plum flavors and complex spices. This wine will improve over a decade with cool cellaring.
Very limited winery release. Fewer than 100 cases made.
