2006 Vintage Tasting Notes EXCLUSIVE TO AVALON! An elegant, sophisticated Pinot, a distinct change from David's "Kilmore's" massive quality, it's red fruit dominant, and a bit young. Decant or cellar for best drinking, this is a lovely, almost delicate Pinot designed for the cellar. Drink 2007-2012.
A tiny seven barrel blend of two vineyards- Durant and McClintock. 5 of the 7 barrels are from a 10 year old block of Pommard clone Pinot noir in Durant Vineyard at a 475 ft elevation.
The other 2 barrels, lending structure, are from John & Nancy McClintock's vineyard located high in the range at 850 feet.
David says: "a seamless wine with exhuberant red fruits and perfume with a balanced tart cherry finish."
About the label: "Once the chief seat of piety and learning of the Innula Sanctorum, now a place hardly known to the inhabitants of Ireland, yet for ages held the most sacred and venerated: the Iona of Ireland, which her princes embellished, and containing the tombs of her noblest in blood"- George Petrie in 1820 after visiting the ancient Abbey of Clonmacnois
