Owen Roe Slide Mountain Cabernet Franc received 93 points from Wine Spectator in July, 2012.

Last call - 12 bottles available - 2-10-2012

2009 Wine Spectator - 93 points - Supple, velvety and aristocratic, this adds elegance and refinement to its luscious plum and boysenberry fruit, hinting at mint and sage as it finishes with flair. Drink now through 2019. - H.S.

The Slide Mountain Cabernet Franc is all about fragrance - it has an other worldly intensity of scent, with violets and fresh herbs in the nose, following through in the mouth. The wine is richer than last year's - the vintage was a small one, with intensity trumping quantity - it's very limited this year. If you like intense, dark Cab Franc with an exotic flavor twist, you'll enjoy this wine. The wine is drinking well now, but has the structure and balance to cellar for 4-8 years.

This is a crowd pleaser, a wine with lovely scents for those who like the exotic, and a massive, meaty, heavy weight flavor for those who like a full bodied wine, and such smooth, velvety tannins that the wine is easy for everyone to enjoy.

Slide Mountain, Yakima Valley looking towards Rattlesnake Mountain

From a three quarter acre block of grapes in a small vineyard located within the Yakima Indian Nation. Known for its weighty, dark flavors and accents of fresh tobacco, olive and graphite.

Slide Mountain Vineyard is near the Dubrul Vineyard and runs as a horizontal strip of land along a steep ridge. Above the vineyard, which is filled with round river rocks and chalky, poor soil, is sandy soil of a different type. Below the vineyard, the soil is dense and sticky, full of clay. So the vineyard land stretches oddly as a long, narrow, horizontal band across the area. Sounds like the soil bears some resemblance to the rocky soils of Cayuse's vineyards.

An outstanding wine made with David's careful attention to detail. You know how good Cab Franc can be when it's well made, and this is one of the best I've ever tasted.

2008 Vintage

only 90 cases made. 100% Cabernet Franc.

The 2008 Slide Mountain Cabernet Franc 08's delicate aromatics enfuses the wine with a sweet perfume. It's very reminiscent of the aromas of Bordeaux. - the winery

2006 Vintage

Owen Roe Slide Mountain Cabernet Franc 06 is a serious cellar candidate. Tightly wound, with gobs of cherry candy accented by green peppercorns. The flavors glide over a massively textured body, finishing with white pepper and graphite. This will take a few years to come together, as we've seen with the 2004 Slide Mtn.

2004 Vintage

Wine Spectator 90 points: "Supple and lithe, this is open-textured and appealing for its spicy blueberry flavors that liner on the polished finish. Drink now through 2011. 127 cases made." H.S.

This exciting wine announces the emergence of a new superstar vineyard in Washington State. David has worked with the Slide Mountain Vineyard for about 5 years, and has purchased vineyards near it.
