HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Super value, fruity and crisp, with lovely floral/citrus scent. Most of this winery's fruit goes to King Estate for their reserve Pinot gris. Made for the vineyard by Joe Dobbes, this is wonderful gris at a wonderful price.

Located in the Abiqua Valley, east of the Willamette Valley, this winey was one of the first to grow Pinot gris grapes in Oregon, planting in 1988. They have sold Pinot gris grapes to many of the most well known wineries in Oregon, and in 2001, began making a very small amount of Pinot gris under their own label.
The grapes were whole cluster pressed and fermented without racking from pressing lees with VL-2 yeast which promotes rich viscous wines with good mouth feel. The lees help as well to promote more mouth feel. The fermentation temperature ranged from 55-60 degrees F and was fermented to dryness and sulfated on the gross fermentation lees. The tank was stirred every two weeks to re-suspend the lees to add richness and creaminess (sur lee aging). The wine was fined with Isingalss to eliminate some of the inherent PG skin bitterness and promote the fruit more. The wine aged on the lees until filtration through pads and bottled. Fermentation was arrested at .30%
The grapes are grown on a 5 yr field yielding 3.75 tons per acre. Our vineyard is located on a south slope in the Abiqua Valley east of the Willamette Valley near Silverton Oregon. We have Jori/Nekia soil. Joe Dobbs Jr (working under the "Wine by Joe business) is our winemaker.
