93 points Tanzer: "Vivid ruby-red. Suave, mineral-accented raspberry and cola aromas are complicated by a sexy touch of candied flowers. Lively and alluringly sweet, offering vibrant red fruit liqueur and floral pastille flavors, intense spiciness and a hint of mocha. Finishes very long, with vibrant raspberry and bitter cherry flavors given grip by fine-grained tannins. As approachable as this wine is now, I'd wait another four years or so before diving in." - Josh Raynolds

Incredibly intense, lush, sexy Pinot with piles of fruit, good structure and, amazingly perfect balance. Supple, deep aromatics of black cherries, crushed raspberries, fresh rose petals, red earth spices and a touch of sweet oak - the scent is spot-on Pinot Noir at its most alluring. The wine has the signature velvety texture, richness and long, spicy finish that make up the Balcombe Vineyard character.

Balcombe Vineyard is simply one of the best vineyards Patty and Jim work with, and every year it produces wines of terrific quality that are absolutely true to the Dundee Hills. The vineyard is located toward the top of the Dundee Hills on Breyman Orchard Road. It was planted in 1990 and they have worked with the fruit every year since 1997. The two wines they make from its fruit are always among their most popular.

2011 Vintage Tasting Notes

The 2011 is a supremely pure showing of the Breyman Orchard Road area of the Dundee Hills. The fruit is red-toned, feminine, lifted and elegant. The wineís texture is generous and graceful but it has a sneaky streak of tannins down the spine of the wine that give it some punch. This wine is quite proto-typical of the vintage. It is not a big wine but it has a substantial nature to it in that there is a wealth of Dundee Hills red fruit, excellent texture and a persistence to it that is longer than one might expect. This, perhaps more than any other wine of the vintage, seems nearly atypical in that it has more sweetness of fruit and less of the savory side of 2011. This is certainly a Dundee Hill loverís wine. 215 cases bottled. - the winery

2010 Vintage Tasting Notes

The fruit has the classic rose petal and red cherry notes even at this youthful stage of development. Barrels range from darker, deeper flavors and textures to exceptionally lifted, high-toned feminine style wines. The combination of all the barrels at the end will bring about an exceptional and exciting bottling of this terrific vineyard. The Dundee Hills were absolutely dark with birds for the month prior to harvest and while we did an extraordinary job of keeping our fruit as safe as possible the birds, in combination with the poor set in the springtime, limited us to just over 10 tons from this 7.5 acre site. 475 cases bottled. - the winery
