Patton Valley Pinot noir "Lorna Marie " 09
The 2009 Lorna Marie is the richest, fullest flavored so far of Patton Valley's top Pinot noir cuvee. The exotic spice in the nose is a signature of Patton Valley wines, along with dried flowers, cherries, pipe tobacco and earth. In the mouth the wine is round and rich. Red fruits, cherry and currant fruit are accented by sweet spices and a hint of creaminess. - Jean
2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
Wine Advocate 92 points!
Wine Advocate - The 2008 Pinot Noir Lorna Marie is a blend of the six best barrels in the cellar aged in 33% new oak. It displays some extra aromatic complexity, a bit more grip and power on the palate, and will benefit from another 4-5 years in the cellar.
Monty Pitt and David Chen purchased their 72 acre parcel in 1995 and began planting in 1997. Their first vintage was 1999 and currently all the wines are estate bottled (in screw caps). Production stands at 3000 cases. Not surprisingly, Patton Valley’s 2008 collection is a step above the 2007s. - Jay Miller
2006 Vintage Tasting Notes
Parker Wine Advocate Rating 90 points:"The 2006 Pinot Noir Lorna-Marie offers greater aromatic complexity, a more layered palate with gobs of spicy red fruits, excellent depth, good structure for the vintage, and 1-2 years of aging potential. Drink this well-made effort from 2010 to 2018."
2005 Vintage Tasting Notes
2005 Vintage Wine Spectator 94 points: Big and bold, but beautifully formed to show some restraint to the structure. Offers scads of black cherry, wild strawberry and sassafras, with a host of savory spices that just don't quit as the finish expands and soars. Built to age. Best from 2010 through 2017. 95 cases made. - HS
