Podere Ruggeri Corsini Barolo 05 - Seductive aromas of licorice, black berries, crushed rose, and resin. The scents from a glass of Barolo are hypnotic and ethereal--there are few wines like it. Maybe the best thing is realizing the aromatics will only improve with time.
The palate offers a perfect mix of sweet cherry and blackberry that sweetens on the finish, picking up touches of red berry then mingling with cedary spice and subtle dark cocoa on the structured refined finish. This is outstanding value Barolo that will provide years of enjoyment in the cellar--you could buy a case and drink a bottle each year for the next twelve and find an evolving masterpiece. Best to have this with food for near term drinking, like hearty meat dishes (braised short ribs would be perfect), from a decanter.
Medium-deep ruby red with garnet to orange overtones. Ther should be an exhilarating rush of fresh-ness on the nose,followed immediately by warming broader elements, which can include candied cherries, bitter cherries,plums, strawberries and raspberries. There are also darker tones of chocolate, hazelnuts,licorice, with herbs, cinnamon and vanilla as well. Braised stewed red meats ,game (particularly wild boar). Barolo goes well with intensely flavored dishes based on mature and spicy cheeses. - the winery

Ruggeri Corsini is the husband and wife team of Nicola Argamante and Loredana Addari. Nicola is a prominent viticulturalist who has consulted for some of the biggest names in Italian wine. Together they produce a spectacular portfolio of wine.
