We're very excited to help launch this new label, so much so that we're offering 15% off any order of 6 or more bottles of Powell Hill, making the bottle price $46.70. Your additional discount will be adjusted manually.
Elegance, refinement, and subtle power - those are the hallmarks of Jim Maresh's Pinots. Complex and inviting, this is packed with dark cherries, orange oil, brown sugar-dusted strawberries and pinches of baking spice that fan out on the finish. Talk about finish(!), the extra time in barrel adds another dimension of length. - Marcus
It's a similar wine to Jim's 2009 Maresh Vineyard Pinot (one of the stars of the 2009 vintage), except that it was aged an additional 11 months in neutral barrels. Jim prefers the Powell Hill 09, citing the extra complexity and length. This aged gracefully in neutral oak for 25 months before bottling, then another year in bottle. That patience is rewarded with a wine that sings upon opening and has another 2-4 years of evolution. Only two barrels were produced.
Powell Hill Winery is run by Martha Maresh and her husband, Steven Mikami. Martha's son Jim (Arterberry Maresh) is the winemaker. The wine is a tribute to Martha's mother, Loie, and Steven's mother, Lois.
