Prive Vineyard Le Nord Pinot noir 06

Price: $55.00

Quantity

Prive Vineyard Le Nord Pinot noir 06 expresses the terroir of the vineyard more clearly than almost any Oregon Pinot noir. Scents of licorice, sweet anise seed, and a hint of red fruit introduce flavors of sweet berry with tantalizing hints of rose, garrigue, spice, berry, currant, cherry, and a hint of earthy smoke.

Prive's le Nord is one of two Pinot noirs made by tiny Prive Vineyard. Tina and Mark Hammond sell all their wines by mailing list to their loyal longtime followers.

“le nord” is the northern block of the Prive vineyard and is southwest facing, planted in Jory soil. When young, the le Nord Pinot Noir possesses an enjoyable fruit upfront, with intense characteristics complimented by the moderate use of new oak. This wine is made with approximately 25% new French Oak in order to let the “terroir” show without having to wait years for the aging process to take place. The winery suggests drinking this wine in the first five to seven years. It is an elegant Pinot Noir with nice layers and complexity. Owner/winemaker Tina Hammond says: "It's our crowd-pleaser". Approximately 165 cases are offered each year.
