Lush opening on the pallet, then tightens to a great balance of focusing acidity and modest tannins. Lengthy finish with good oak integration, hints of dried tobacco leaf, cranberry and blackberries. 2007 Vintage

Raptor Ridge Shea Vineyard Pinot noir 07 - The color of this wine is remarkable: dark garnet with a gem-like clarity. The Shea 2007 boasts aromas of juicy pomegranate and beeswax, with a bit of the classic "forest floor" mossy sandalwood perfume that has been common with Shea across the vintages. This young wine is amazingly ready to drink upon release, reminding us of a bowl of fresh Oregon blackberries and cream. More time in the bottle would only allow the ripe, polished tannins, framboise core, and black pepper finish to soften and lengthen. - the winery

Tasting Notes for 2004 Vintage

The deep black cherry color of this wine is matched by aromas of wild cherry and graham. In keeping with the typical Shea profile, a hint of forest mushroom adds depth. A round and luscious black cherry cola palate is backed by tight tannins and an acidic vein that will support aging.

Tasting notes for the 2003 vintage from the winery:

"Translucent garnet in color with a rich nose of ripe strawberry preserves and vanilla bean, this vintage of Shea is a dichotomy of subtle aroma and flavor with powerful wine strength. Well-integrated oak lends a brown spice characteristic. The mouth feel is viscous, broad and soft, with a lingering finish reminiscent of blueberry cobbler. We suggest pairing this vintage with subtler flavors of fish and fowl, rather than heavy lamb and beef dishes. The finish will lengthen as the alcohol, higher this vintage than usual, integrates with time."
