Review:

2010 Wine Spectator - 93 points - Lithe, supple and lively, with raspberry, strawberry and rose petal aromas and flavors. Finishes with refined tannins and refreshing balance. Drink now through 2017. - H.S.

A beautiful, balanced Shea Pinot from Raptor Ridge. The texture is silky up front, carrying raspberry, wild strawberry and dark cherry through the finish. - Marcus

From the winery -

The 2010 Shea possesses recurring themes for this vineyard: garnet/magenta color, classic forest floor aromas of mushroom, pepper and brown spices. These are echoed on the palate with savory soy and both black and white pepper notes moving towards clove and cinnamon. The fruit is a beautiful expression of what happens when grapes slowly ripen and retain lively acidity: Bing cherry, strawberry rollup, mint, tobacco leaf, sweet macerated raspberry and blueberry, even turning toward white peach. The entry is beautiful and mouthfilling, and the finish is long, with pronounced tannins that will refine to typical Shea silkiness with time. The mid-palate is a bit shy, and we look forward to following its development as it matures.

2008 Vintage

Inky red with fuschia colored rim. Something classy & refined in the nose! A concentration of ripe bing cherries & fresh cream. Silky texture, expansive on the pallet. Lush opening on the pallet, then tightens to a great balance of focusing acidity and modest tannins. Lengthy finish with good oak integration, hints of dried tobacco leaf, cranberry and blackberries. Meaty. Great with Thai food. Drink 2013- 2020. - the winery

2007 Vintage

The color of this wine is remarkable: dark garnet with a gem-like clarity. The Shea 2007 boasts aromas of juicy pomegranate and beeswax, with a bit of the classic "forest floor" mossy sandalwood perfume that has been common with Shea across the vintages. This young wine is amazingly ready to drink upon release, reminding us of a bowl of fresh Oregon blackberries and cream. More time in the bottle would only allow the ripe, polished tannins, framboise core, and black pepper finish to soften and lengthen. - the winery
