96 Points Rhone Report

Cab, Merlot and Cab Franc Rhone-style massive black fruit, dark inky purple with aromas of blackberry, cassis, cedar, spices and violets. The flavors include black plum, blackberry, cassis, mint, and exotic spices. This wine is beautifully textured in layers of silky tannins with facets of earth, dark chocolate, vanilla and spices. This wine will cellar for up to 20 years, perhaps longer. A blend of fruit from Kiona, Dubrul, Dionysus, and Weinbau Vineyards. 280 cases made. - Review of Washington Wines

The blend is Cabernet Sauvingnon (41%), Merlot (36%) and Cabernet Franc (23%).

Kiona VIneyard

From the winery: 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc from DuBrul, Kiona, Dionysus, and Weinbau Vineyards. Deep rich purple, almost black, in color with beguiling aromatics of cassis, blackberry, violet, cedar, tobacco, exotic spices, and earth. On the palate the wine is concentrated and rich with beautiful texture that displays full bodied silky tannins and amazing complexity. This gorgeous wine displays multifaceted layers of blackberry, cassis, black plum, lead pencil, mint, tobacco, exotic spices, earth, and gravel. The decadent, almost haunting, finish is well over a minute long with resonant notes of earth, exotic spices, dark chocolate and vanilla. Properly cellared, this wine will gracefully evolve for 20+ years.

Jeb Dunnuck's Rhone Report 96 Points: The first vintage for this wine and a blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 23% Cabernet Franc that was aged in 60% new French oak, the 2009 Rasa Vineyards In Order to Form a More Perfect Union delivers spectacular aromatics, a seamless, full-bodied texture, and blockbuster length on the finish. Showing notes of crème de cassis, tobacco, charred toast, sweet oak, and spice cabinet on the nose, this stays gorgeously light, elegant, and fresh on the palate, while at the same time showing fantastic intensity, a concentrated mid-palate, and ripe tannin that emerges with more time in the glass. This is impressive any way you slice it, and while it is no doubt a spectacular drink now, it deserves 4-5 years of bottle age, and should keep for upwards of two decades.

Respected wineblogger Rand Sealey gives the wine 19.5/20 points (out of 20.): The full name is “In Order to form a more Perfect Union.” A combination of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 23% Cab Franc from the DuBrul, Kiona, Dionysus and Weinbau vineyards, this forms a striking union. It displays a deep garnet color and a seductive nose of wild raspberries, blueberries, plums, and black currants, with scents of attar of rose, cigar box, sandalwood and smoldering incense. The fruits are mouth encompassing, accented by licorice, cocoa powder, mocha and French roast. The back picks up orange peel, roasted berries and nuts and sweet oak on a lingering sweet-dry tannin finish. A candidate for 20/20pts.
