Ribbon Ridge Vineyard Pinot gris
The 2004 Pinot Gris perfectly captures the essence of the pinot gris grapes in the vineyard. Style-wise it is a cross between the 2003 Early Release Pinot Gris and the Reserve Pinot Gris, and we think draws on the best of both. It is bright and crisp with tropical notes of star fruit and pineapple. Like the 2003, it was barrel fermented and remained in the barrels, sur lies, for four months. It did not go through malo-lactic fermentation. This gives it body and depth minus the buttery creaminess of our 2003 reserve. It retains the bright crispness and fruit flavors all the way through to the finish. Great for sipping by itself or with cheese, poultry, or seafood, it also holds up well to spicy curries or hard-to-match Latin or Asian cuisine. Just 53 cases were bottled. - the winery
