Robert Karl is a small winery based in Spokane, Washington, owned by physician Joe Gunselman. He is a self-taught winemaker but has taken classes at the Walla Walla Institute for Enology and Viticulture and UC Davis. While classical teaching does not include wine as one of the basic food groups, Dr. Gunselman believes wine to be an essential part of every meal.
